How is Mupl different from Spotify / Apple Music?
Completely different. Spotify/Apple Music is a streaming catalog — you rent listening rights. Mupl is a player for YOUR files — mp3/flac/m4a you already own (CDs ripped, Bandcamp, files from your computer). Mupl has no licensed music catalog.
I have music on my Mac. How do I get it into Mupl?
Web companion: open mupl.notadi.app/upload in a browser, sign in, drag-drop a folder or many MP3/FLAC files. Mupl encrypts locally then uploads. Your iPhone pulls down automatically via the sync engine.
What does "end-to-end encryption" actually mean?
Your passphrase derives a master key via Argon2id on your device only. All metadata (title/artist/playlist) is encrypted with that key before being pushed to S3. Server sees ciphertext + nonce — can't read content. Lose the passphrase = lose decryption ability; Mupl has no "forgot password" for the master key.
Can I export music out of Mupl?
Yes, anytime. The mupl/audio/ folder in your iPhone sandbox is original MP3/FLAC files — copy out via Files.app, AirDrop to Mac, or upload to Google Drive. No DRM, no vendor lock-in.
Why a Pro tier? Isn't Mupl open-source?
Mupl is freemium — engine code will go open-source after MVP, Pro just pays for cloud infrastructure (S3 + DB + bandwidth). Free tier 1GB isn't a trial — use it forever.
What about Android?

Does Mupl track what I listen to?
No. We don't log listening habits, don't send "now playing" telemetry, don't have a recommendation engine. Mixpanel only tracks anonymous UX events (screen view, button tap) to improve the app — opt-out 1-click in Settings.
